THE 3rd OCEANIA WUSHU CHAMPIONSHIPS (29 Aug 2009)
GENERAL INFORMATION
The Organising Committee of the 3rd Oceania Wushu Championships is responsible for
the organization of the 3rd Oceania Wushu Championships under the leadership of the
Oceania Wushu Federation (OWUF) Executive Committee. The competition will be a
combined event, including the New Zealand Kung-Fu Wushu Federation (NZKWF)
National Championships and the Oceania Wushu Federation (OWUF) Continental
Championships, hereinafter referred to in this document as the “3rd Oceania Wushu
Championships”.
1. DATE AND PLACE
The 3rd Oceania Wushu Championships will be held between 8.30am-5.30pm on
Saturday August 29, 2009.
2. VENUE
Competition and Training Venue is the New Zealand Community Trust (NZCT) Stadium,
Te Rauparaha Arena, 17 Parumoana Street, Porirua, New Zealand.
3. COMPETITION EVENTS
Championship events will include competitions in Taolu (Traditional and Modern) and
Sanshou. If there are too few registrations in either Traditional or Modern Taolu to hold
an event, then Modern and Traditional Taolu routines will be combined into a single
Wushu Section. The New Zealand Kung-Fu Wushu Federation (NZKWF) Standard
Judging System will be used for the Traditional Wushu Section with Panel or Corner
Judges giving a score out of ten from which an average is calculated, after which the
Head Judge makes any adjustments needed (penalties etc) and the final score is then
recorded out of ten.
4. ENTRIES
All entries must be properly typed or printed in English. They are valid only when signed
by the President or Secretary General of the respective Federation and bearing the
official stamp of the Federation. No changes or additional entries will be accepted after
the time limit. Two forms must be completed – a preliminary entry form due by June 29,
2009 and a final entry form due by July 29, 2009.
a. Preliminary Entry Forms
Preliminary Entry Forms shall be completed and must state the exact number of
competitors taking part in the events. And the Entries must reach the Organising
Committee of the 3rd Oceania Wushu Championships no later than 24:00 (New Zealand
Time) on Monday June 29, 2009. They can be sent by mail or fax or a scanned copy
may be emailed to this address:

b. Final Entry Forms:
Final Entry Forms shall be completed by the competitors. Note that additional
Registration Forms for Movements with Degree of Difficulty of Optional Routines are not
required. A copy of the completed Final Entry Form must reach the Organising
Committee of the 3rd Oceania Wushu Championships no later than 24:00 (New Zealand
Time) on Wednesday July 29, 2009. The original of the completed form must be
retained by teams as they are required to present this for confirmation during registration.
5. REGISTRATION
All participating teams are required to check-in at the Organising Committee of the 3rd
Oceania Wushu Championships no later than 17:00 (5.00pm) (New Zealand Time) on
Thursday August 27, 2009. The location of the check-in will be sign-posted at the
competition venue. Participants from Australia, Fiji and Guam are required to pay any
unpaid Event Registration and OWUF Membership Fees during registration, and to bring
with them the necessary competition equipment to participate, or they will be disqualified
from participating in the competition.
6. EVENT ENTRY FEES
Event Entry Fees are to be paid upon team arrival at registration. For Taolu (Modern or
Traditional) the cost per competitor is NZ$15 one event, NZ$25 two events, NZ$30 three
or more events. For Sanshou the cost per competitor is NZ$25.
7. TECHNICAL OFFICIALS
Each Taolu Team and Sanshou Team can send one International Grade Judge. The
International Judges (IWUF License holders) must present their valid certificates issued
by IWUF to the Organizing Committee for registration. National Judges must also
produce verification of being a National License Holder.
8. TECHNICAL MEETING
The Technical Meeting for team managers and coaches will take place at 18:00 (6.00pm)
(New Zealand Time) on Thursday August 27, 2009. The location of the technical
meeting will be at the competition venue. The meeting will announce the matters related
to the competitions. Each team may send up to two representatives for taolu and up to
two representatives for sanshou to attend the meeting.
9. SANSHOU AND TAOLU JUDGES REFRESHER COURSE
The above courses will be held between 19:00 (7.00pm) and 21:30 (9.30pm) (New
Zealand Time) on Thursday August 27, 2009 in meeting rooms 1 (taolu) and 2
(sanshou) at the competition venue. All team officials are welcome to attend to
familiarise themselves with the rules of competition. There is no charge for overseas
team officials to attend the courses and Certificates of Achievement will not be issued to
overseas officials as the course is only recognised in New Zealand.
10. OCEANIA WUSHU FEDERATION MEMBER MEETING
Presidents and/or team leaders or team managers are invited to attend a meeting of
Oceania Wushu Federation Country members. This will be held between 12:00 (midday)
and 14:00 (2.00pm) (New Zealand Time) on Friday August 28, 2009. The
proposed venue will be meeting room 1 at the competition venue, however this will need
to be confirmed.
11. WEIGHING-IN
The weighing-in for sanshou athletes will take place between 8.30am and 9.30am (New
Zealand Time) on Saturday August 29, 2007.
12. DRAWING LOTS CEREMONY
The drawing-lots of the 3rd Oceania Wushu Championships will be conducted by the
OWUF Technical Committee at 9:30am (New Zealand Time) on Saturday August 29,
2009. Each team may send up to two taolu and two sanshou representatives to attend
the ceremony. The OWUF Technical Committee will draw on behalf of the teams that are
unable to send a representative.
Please Note: All efforts will be made to ensure there are sufficient competitors to
successfully administer all categories in the event, however the Organising Committee of
the 3rd Oceania Wushu Championships accepts no responsibility for the cost of any travel
or accommodation arrangements, or other cost or inconvenience, as a result of not being
able to organise a suitable opponent or competitor on the day. If necessary, and with
your and your coaches’ consent, we may look at merging event or weight categories.
13. TEAM TRAINING
Team training for the 3rd Oceania Wushu Championships will be from 14.00 (2.00pm) to
17:00 (5.00pm) (New Zealand Time) on Friday 28, 2009. At this stage the competition
venue will be used, however this will need to be confirmed
14. OFFICIAL WELCOME
An official welcome will be given at the event to all competitors and officials from
Australian, Fiji and Guam in appreciation of the special effort they made to attend. No
opening or closing ceremonies are planned.
15. FAREWELL DINNER
The farewell dinner will be at 19:30 (7.30pm) on Saturday August 29, 2009. The cost
of food and drinks and any transportation from and to hotel/s will be covered by Team
Leaders, Managers, Coaches, Judges, Competitors and official Observers themselves.
The Organising Committee will ensure the dinner is close to the hotel/s to reduce cost
and inconvenience. See further information at No. 19 (meals) below.
16. COMPETITION EQUIPMENT
Team Leaders, Managers, Coaches, Judges, and Competitors should be aware that
sanshou will be performed on rubber interlocking mats as opposed to a Lei Tai fighting
platform and that taolu may need to be performed on a wooden floor. The Organising
Committee will continue attempts to secure a taolu carpet before the event. If we are
unsuccessful some taolu ‘degree of difficulty movements’ may be precluded for safety
reasons.

As the competition is a combined event with the New Zealand Kung-Fu Wushu
Federation Nationals, one side of the medal will state NZKWF National Champion and
the other OWUF (Oceania Wushu Federation) Champion. Place getters will hold both
titles.
18. FINANCIAL CONDITIONS
All participating teams shall be responsible for their international airfare, including any
domestic airfares within New Zealand. Each team will also be responsible for their
accommodation, food and travel. An Event Registration Fee is also payable.
19. ACCOMMODATION, MEALS AND TRANSPORTATION
Preliminary and Final Accommodation Booking Forms are included in this document.
Those attending are advised to make their own bookings directly. Some suggested
places are listed below. If any teams have difficulty with booking directly they may
request the organising committee to make bookings for them. Bookings would be
tentative only and could not be confirmed until payment is made into the Federation bank
account and then bookings would be confirmed.

Meals
One option teams have is to organise a daily cooked or continental breakfast when
booking accommodation. The cost is reasonable (between NZD10 and NZD15 per
person). There are many food outlets within walking distance of the top two
accommodation options listed above, so no worries about going hungry.
The only organised group meal will be an evening dinner following the competition,
Saturday August 29, 2009, commencing between 7.30pm and 8.00pm. This will be
open to all officials and competitors, however each person will need to cover their own
cost for a three course set-menu meal. Please allow approximately NZD45 to NZD50 per
person for this expense (excludes alcohol).
Transportation
Members of the Organizing Committee of the 3rd Oceania Wushu Championships will
meet and greet teams from other countries at the Wellington Airport and will coordinate
transportation between Wellington Airport and the team’s place of accommodation. The
cost of transportation from Wellington Airport to Porirua will need to be met collectively by
each team.
The cost per person for a ‘super shuttle’ from the airport to Porirua is around NZD46 for
1st person then NZD6.00 per person (after the first person) on a ‘shared-ride’ basis,
where there may be other drop-offs along the way. Alternatively, you can book the
exclusive hire of the shuttle for a total of NZD96 each way.
If for some reason you want to book your own transport, the Super Shuttle number in
New Zealand is 0800-748885 or from overseas +64-9-522-5100. You can also book at
reservations@supershuttle.co.nz. All they need is your pick-up point and the name of the
accommodation or street where you want to be taken to.
20. OTHER MATTERS
Each team is required to bring the following:
a. 1 x National or regional or federation flag (1m×2m);
b. 3 x photos (passport size) per team member;
c. All original Final Entry Forms;
d. Health Certificates of all athletes and Life Insurance Certificate (country or region);
e. The 3rd Oceania Wushu Championships “Waiver of Liabilities” for each participant.
Note: For ease of administration, medal presentations will occur upon conclusion of each
event category, and there will be no national flags raised or national anthems or
federation songs played.
21. SIGHT-SEEING
There is no arrangement to include sight-seeing into the programme, however we will be
happy to recommend and/or assist you with any sight-seeing arrangements you may
wish to make, before of after the competition. Feel free to browse any New Zealand

accepting my application, I hereby assume all risk of physical and mental injuries,
disabilities and losses which may result from or in connection with my participation in the
3rd Oceania Wushu Championships. The 3rd Oceania Wushu Championships is hosted by
the Oceania Wushu Federation (OWUF) and organized by the New Zealand Kung-Fu

thing whatsoever that I may sustain as a result of or in connection with my participation in
the 3rd Oceania Wushu Championships. I fully understand that all medical attention or
treatment afforded to me by the “Organizing Committee” its officers, representatives,
volunteers, and all other related members will be of the first aid only, and hereby release
the “Organizing Committee” its officers, representatives, volunteers, and all other related
members from any liability for such aid. I understand it is my obligation to obtain medical
coverage.

consent to the “Organizing Committee” using my name, address, voices, poses, pictures
and biographical data concerning full or parts, in any form or language, with or without
other material, throughout the world, without limitation, for television, radio, video,
theatrical medium picture, or any other medium by any devices now known or hereafter
devised, and I do hereby waive any compensation in regard thereof as well as any future
rights to the aforementioned.
